Weird Scarecrows

Technically, it is still fall. So that means I can post scarecrows! These are some of the strangest ones I have seen. This one has no legs! Scary indeed.

This one is a wooden headed girl.

This one is empty headed...he has a head made of wire.

This one has been on his tractor, and is plum tuckered out.

This one is a skull! He scares people as well as crows.
The next two are made by children. One is made of popsicle sticks, and the other is a collage.

And finally, meet Mr. & Mrs. Frankenstein and their pet crow.

“Every hand hangs limp, every knee turns to rubber. They dress in rough burlap— sorry scarecrows, Shifty and shamefaced.”

Weird Pumpkins

Here are some of the weird pumpkins I have encountered. First, the white ones. What's up with that? Can you even eat them? I have never seen a white pumpkin pie.

This one is made from a bale of hay.

This man lives a couple blocks away, and grows award winning pumpkins for the largest in the state.

Here is Anne Marie sitting on one.

Last year, I had the girls make a spider and web on their pumpkins. Kind of fun for all their ages.

This pumpkin has been hollowed out and used as a vase.

Little Jazz didn't know that she had it upside down.

We saw this in a store window. A crone pumpkin.

So there is the lot. Weird, wild, and wonderful.

“Our chair a broad pumpkin, our lantern the moon,
Telling tales of the fairy who travelled like steam,
In a pumpkin-shell coach, with two rats for her team!

Count With Me!

We live in an area called Tree Streets. It's beautiful.

The other day we passed this tree. Without leaves, you can see the tree itself better. And look what we saw! So many squirrel nests that I could hardly count them!

I always thought that squirrels are territorial, and there would only be one nest for each tree. Boy was I wrong. Can you count how many? I lost count after 11.

This little guy will never tell.

“God doesn’t count us; he calls us by name. Arithmetic is not his focus.”

Old Stone Bridge

Lets take a short walk up to the old stone bridge. It's quite lovely in the fall.

“And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh…”

Giving Thanks

Thank you for the world so sweet

Thank you for the food we eat.

Thank you for the birds that sing.

Thank you God for everything.

Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving from our family to yours!

“Let your living spill over into thanksgiving.”
Colossians 2

“And here we are, O God, our God, giving thanks to you, praising your splendid Name.”

Rust Never Sleeps

No, rust never sleeps, it keeps getting reused. At a local museum, we saw this display of old toy trucks that had been turned into lamps.

What do you think this one is? Phil said if you turn it sideways, it looks like a rabbit.

And here we are looking in this mirror. The frame is more toy trucks, license plates, and locks.

“If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.”

A Thankful Easter

We were driving down a highway last week, when I caught a glimpse of what looked like two big Easter eggs on a porch! WHAT? We turned around and took a better look.

Yikes, it was two painted pumpkins, a boy and a girl. The boy seems to have a mustache. I cannot figure out what their hair is made from.

You can see on the bottom, where the paint stopped. I still think they look like Easter eggs.

“Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it you can. Different shades of life make the painting more beautiful.”

Virginia Bluebells

The Virginia Bluebells are blooming now. They are so pretty and delicate. Here are some a few blocks away. Here are some Bluebell tattoos I...
